Over the last month, the Risk Mitigation team has made remarkable strides and set new benchmarks in our work to support safer opioid use and promote substance use risk awareness across markets. Here’s a look at our key achievements:
– On the Road in Alabama: Both Shannon and Cherrell represented Risk Mitigation at the BCBSAL Blue Forums in Alabama, connecting directly with provider office staff. This was an incredible opportunity to reinforce our commitment to the region and build lasting relationships with providers.
– Expanded Alabama Services: We successfully launched expanded services in Alabama, enhancing substance use screening, adding additional ED Overdose identification efforts, and initiating a new outreach campaign. This was a collaborative, matrixed effort across Axial and BCBSAL, and we’ve already seen our first successful engagements in both areas!
– Contract Renewals: We renewed both our BCBSAL and Highmark contracts, ensuring the continuity of our programs and reaffirming our commitment to these vital partnerships.
– Thought Leadership at MAPA: Amanda Novak made an impact at the 2024 MAPA Fall CME Conference, where she presented on Risk Mitigation Strategies for Opioids and served on the Career Transitional Panel, bringing our work to a wider audience.
– Educational Outreach: Amanda Novak also led the Gather-ed CME course titled “Striking a Balance: Understanding Pain and Opioids,” which was well-attended by members of the SUD Home and Risk Mitigation teams, and concluded in late October.
– Training Enhancements: Partnering with the Education and Training team, we’ve kicked off updates to our Risk Mitigation training materials to keep them comprehensive and current.
– SUD Home Awareness in Post-Overdose Outreach: For Wellpoint, we’ve collaborated with market leadership to introduce SUD Home resources in our post-overdose outreach, widening the net of support for patients and providers alike.
