In September 2024, several significant milestones were achieved in Risk Mitigation. One key highlight was the roll-out of RiskIQ, a new provider outreach preparation tool inspired by SignalEngage. RiskIQ equips the team with enhanced clinical insights, streamlining outreach preparation and prioritization. Additionally, several Consult enhancements were delivered, improving efficiency and broadening the ability to highlight risks to providers, thanks to collaboration with Engineering, BIA, and Data Services.
We had a bitter sweet team structure change as Judy Hamlet retired last month.
Special recognition was given to Samantha Garbark, who made a significant impact in September. Samantha played a critical role in both developing and implementing the RiskIQ tool while supporting all Risk Mitigation markets with successful provider outreach. Her flexibility and commitment to the team were instrumental in RiskIQ’s success and continued provider support. Shannon Marcum and Samantha also supported the training and onboarding enhancements project.
The team has been and will be focusing on member-centric campaigns to support providers managing controlled substance risks, particularly primary care physicians who treat complex chronic pain patients. Teams will also strive to meet SOW targets as the Highmark measurement period concludes.
The department worked on cross-departmental collaborations, including projects with Data Operations on documentation system enhancements, Education and Training with Michelle’s team to explore onboarding structures, and Data Services to refine Consult for targeting outreach based on KPIs. Additionally, the team worked on SUD Home in Delaware HHO, focusing on naloxone prescribing and provider collaboration.
Team members attended several key events this month, including Kasey at the Tennessee Pain Society Annual Meeting and Liv at the Medical Association of Alabama Controlled Substances Prescribing Conference. Additionally, several team members, including those from our recovery counterparts, participated in a recovery walk in Pennsylvania.
Upcoming events include Amanda’s participation in “Striking a Balance: Understanding Pain Management and Opioids” and Shannon and Cherrell attending BCBSAL Blue Forums.
